Liverpool Advanced To 4th Round FA Cup

Liverpool survived the threat of Aston Villa who were affected by COVID-19 to advance to the fourth round of the FA Cup with a 4-1 victory against opponents who could not bring down their entire team after the pandemic hit England football.

Villa used the entire teenager and without the presence of boss, Dean Smith after being hit hard by the COVID-19 transmission earlier this week.

In total, 14 Villa employees – nine players and five staff – tested positive, forcing the Premier League to close their training base last Thursday.

Liverpool used the strongest team for the third round at Villa Park, but Villa’s young players put in a good performance.

Four of Villa’s starting line-up were still unborn when Liverpool midfielder James Milner made a professional appearance for Leeds in 2002.

But they surprised Liverpool when Louie Barry equalized after Sadio Mane’s opening goal.

The Premier League champions, however, responded with three goals in five minutes in the second half.

Georginio Wijnaldum exploded before Mane and Mohamed Salah confirmed their first win in four matches of all tournaments for Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

“The boys played very well,” Klopp said. “We have a problem sending the ball and moving. Too many are in the wrong place, not enough to control the delivery.

“We had a chance and kicked right into the goalkeeper. It was a little rusty but better in the second half. Many of our players had no rhythm.”
