LONDON: Manchester United missed a golden opportunity to close the gap with their leaders, Manchester City when they were tied 1-1 against the second bottom of the league, West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns Stadium.

Although one point from the opponent’s court brought United back to second place in the English Premier League (EPL), they are now seven points behind City.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men shared 46 points with third-placed Leicester City who beat Liverpool 3-1 on Sunday.

West Bromwich remain 19th in the league with just 13 points after 24 games this season.

United were stunned by the hosts’ goal as early as the second minute of the match through Mbaye Diagne who completed Conor Gallagher’s pass.

Bruno Fernandes, however, saved United from being embarrassed by the second lowest team when he scored the equalizer at the end of the first half.
