SALZBURG, Austria: Jerome Boateng’s first goal in Europe in five years helped Bayern Munich extend its 14th consecutive Champions League win after beating Salzburg, 6-2, just now.

With a 2-2 tie, Boateng blasted Joshua Kimmich’s corner 11 minutes before the end to put the defending champion ahead.

Leroy Sane, Robert Lewandowski and Lucas Hernandez then added late goals to allow the Group A leaders to record their third consecutive victory in the tournament this season.

“It was a tough match as expected, Salzburg played very well,” Boateng told Sky.

“We scored bad goals and phases, especially in the second half but we finally got the victory we wanted. We never gave up, that’s what differentiated us.”

Sane later admitted “we went through a difficult period compared to what was shown through the decision.”
