LONDON: Graeme Souness slammed England captain Harry Kane after his lackluster performance in the draw against Scotland in Euro 2020 here.
“We’re not going to win the championship with this squad,” Souness said after Gareth Southgate’s side were tied 0-0 against Scotland at Wembley.
Kane, 27, once again struggled to find his sharpness in front of goal after a lackluster performance against Croatia last Sunday.
England are currently second in Group D behind the Czech Republic and need to win the final to emerge group champions.
For Souness, Kane’s performance is far different from his action in the English Premier League (EPL) with Tottenham Hotspur.
“The center -back is easy to control him tonight. He’s a lot different than his real self.
“In two games he looked tired, not enthusiastic. However a striker relies 90 per cent on passes to him and he doesn’t get it from the middle line.
“I don’t care what people say but for now, it’s not working,” he said.
