PORTO, Portugal: Porto qualified for the Group 16 of the Champions League and Manchester City secured the top spot in Group C after they were tied 0-0 at the Estadio do Dragao.

City dominated the game but the excellent performance of Porto goalkeeper Agustin Marchesin ensured one point for both teams.

Pep Guardiola’s squad should have gone home with a win but Gabriel Jesus’ late goal was canceled by VAR.

City confirmed tickets to the knockout round earlier after winning their first four games, with the top spot already in their grasp, Guardiola can now rest his key pillar in the final match against Marseille next week.

Guardiola insists City will make up for last season’s disappointment where they were eliminated in the quarter-finals at the hands of Lyon.

City have never won the European title and Guardiola, who last lifted the trophy with Barcelona in 2011, has never led them past the quarter-finals.
