Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hopes four or five players can recover from injuries when Manchester United meet Milan in the round of 16 of the Europa League.

United manager Solskjaer expects Edinson Cavani and Anthony Martial to return to fitness, after missing seven of United’s eight games, and Martial was forced to leave the pitch in the 1-1 draw with Milan due to hip injuries.

Donny van de Beek, who has not been dropped since February 22, is expected to return to action, while Paul Pogba-who last played in a 3-3 draw with Everton on February 6-is expected to return to the squad.

With Marcus Rashford recovering from an ankle injury in the 1-0 win over West Ham while David de Gea is free after finishing sidelined, United could perform better for the rematch at the San Siro, where their standings are tied 1-1.

“I hope four or five players will come back for the match,” Solskjaer said. “We hope Edinson and Anthony get back fit, Donny, we hope too. Paul will probably be with the team and David is back in the team.

United struggled to get a win over the Hammers, a goal coming from Craig Dawson’s own goal, lifting the Red Devils back to second place in the English Premier League (EPL).

Mason Greenwood excelled as a central striker but failed to end his goal drought, with Lukasz Fabianski denying several tries before rocking the post in the second half.

The 19 -year -old has just scored just one goal in 23 league games this season, and Solskjaer is not worried about it.

“He played brilliantly, deserved to score,” he said. “He has played well lately. He combines movement well for the team. He has two best chances, one denied by Fabianski and unfortunately, he rocked the crossbar for a second try.

“He still produces opportunities for other players. I’m very happy with Mason at the moment.”
