BIRMINGHAM, United Kingdom: Jose Mourinho demanded his Tottenham players to maintain their level of determination as shown in the 2-0 win over Aston Villa.

Spurs bounced back from a difficult week after squandering a 2-0 lead before being knocked out of the Europa League with a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Dinamo Zagreb-four days after a 2-1 loss to Arsenal.

But hopes of hunting down the Premier League’s top four are still open after Carlos Vinicius and Harry Kane found targets at Villa Park.

Mourinho made eight changes following the defeat in Zagreb and got the result he wanted, although his side’s performance was not as expected by the operator.

Vinicius was paired with Kane, while Gareth Bale and Dele Alli started on the bench despite Son Heung-min not playing due to injury.

“Good results. Praise to the players for their great attitude, amazing effort.

“I think the next challenge is to not play like this as a reaction to a bland performance, but play like this with this soul as a permanent thing.

“It’s not about tactics or attitude. The players give it their all,” Mourinho said.

Tottenham are currently sixth in the league, three points behind fourth -placed Chelsea.

Spurs also have a chance to end a 13 -year championship drought in the League Cup final against Manchester City on April 25.
